When I decided to make a career change into the healthcare field I knew it would be a challenge. I had to compete with those that have years of experience and the formal education. Knowing that I had to make myself viable and appealing to employers, my first step was to earn a college degree, specifically a Master’s degree in business.
Robert Morris University is my college of choice because of its high graduation rate and high ranking among private universities in Illinois. Having instructors that are professionals in the field of study is an advantage to me because I will learn by way of textbook materials and real life experience. Because RMU offers a dual degree program, where I can earn my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree concurrently, I will be able to reach my goal in a very timely manner.
As an adult learner I bring to my college career a 20 year work history. In my work experience I have gained some very valuable universal skills. I can work in a large group, small group, or independently. I am good at multitasking. I am very organized and excellent at record keeping and retrieving data. These skills can be utilized in any career, college or work.
My career goal is to become a Hospital Administrator. My intense interest in this profession stemmed from the lack of recognition of how important administrative positions are in the healthcare industry. My aspiration to pursue a career in healthcare administration is motivated my heart-felt passion to publicly validate the fact that I do not have to be holding a scalpel to make a difference in someone’s life.
My educational goal is to of course earn a Master’s degree, but I will do so at the highest level of excellence. I will maintain a high grade point average and hold a place on the Dean’s list throughout my college career at RMU. By demonstrating a determination to gain a quality education and the seriousness with which I treat academics will attest to my dedication, maturity, and responsibility as a RMU student
